Boxing Day 2013 is 26 December are predicting record numbers of shoppers will go online to snap up sale bargains on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, ahead of the Boxing Day.

Many UK retailers will kick off their sale, online, at 7pm on 24th December while in-store sales will launch on Boxing Day morning. This year, retailers are predicting a surge in online customers as people wise-up to the opportunity of bagging a bargain before the stores open on Boxing Day – around 40% of online transactions are expected to be made by tablets and smartphones alone.

While Black Friday is becoming increasingly bigger in the UK, Boxing Day and the January sales event are still the biggest event of the year for the retailers. This year, sales on Boxing Day are predicted to far outstretch Black Friday and record numbers of customers will be shopping online over the festive period.

Currys are predicting that TVs will continue to be extremely popular with items flying off the e-shelves at this time of year. The sales will kick off with massive savings on Smart, 3D and mega-screen TVs, including 50” TVs from under £500. Large kitchen appliances also prove to be popular, with deals including the Zanussi ZWNB6140L washing machine down from £379.99 to £249.99 and the Rangemaster Kitchener KCH90DFFB now priced at £999 (reduced from £1399 – saving £400). There are also huge savings on laptops, including touch screen and convertible laptops, as well as on tablets.
